I think I may have been too excited for this movie for way too long. It couldn’t live up to my expectations that have been building up for over a year. How could a movie about baseball, written by Aaron Sorkin, starring Brad Pitt, and about statistics be anything other than perfect?
It was far from perfect but an excellent movie nonetheless. I think my problem with it was that it didn’t have that dialogue rhythm that nearly everything he’s ever written has. when the lines were delivered by Pitt and Hill it wasn’t there, which was terribly distracting to me. It became even more obvious when Hoffman and the guy who played David Justice spoke. They had the rhythm and timing that most of the other cast members just didn’t have.
