in 2010 I said I would see 365 movies in one year. I made it to 224. It's now 2011 and I'm going to try it again.

89 - The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest

THis has to be the weakest movie of the three Swedish movies produced. It was never able to draw me in the way the previous two were able to. Frankly, I wished I had just re-watched the first one since it was way more compelling, even if I already knew the ending.

Oh god was this terrible. However, I laughed so hard the entire time. You know, I wold totally see this again (on video) if I needed a great laugh.

This is the best Kids movie I’ve seen all year, even if small kids would probably hate it. It’s more of a kids movie for grown ups. It was a beautiful movie in multiple ways. That is probably the only way to describe it.

86 - THE DESCENDANTS

It was a good yet predictable movie. There were a few great parts but mostly, but that is really it. It had the whole “look are rotten these people are, but look how great they really are once you get them alone” plot device. Let’s face it, it’s a tired trick. So now that we’ve covered that, I will say I did enjoy it. I did cry a few times. And yes, I did groan during certain actions and decisions.

85 - Martha Marcy May Marlene

GO SEE THIS MOVIE. I spent the entire movie on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next. Everything about the style of the film was so simple and then you’d get this quick swell of music as the tensions would rise until the it quickly faded and you could breathe again.

I wish they showed a little bit more how she got caught up in the cult life, and I wish they showed the sister trying to help just a little bit more. Speaking of the family, I thought Scarlett Johanssen would have been the perfect sister, moreso than Sarah Paulson (who was great but they didn’t look much alike. I know Elizabeth Olsen is well, and Olsen, but she kept reminding me of a very, very young Johanssen.

This was a fascinating documentary on Eliot Spitzer and the higher class prostitution scene. There were so many interview clips with Spitzer that were mostly relevant that it made me wonder: is this his speaking to the film production crew, is this an interview with another group just reused, or is he being interviewed by the crew thinking it is for something else?

84 - Ides of March

This movie started out slowly, to the point where I was starting to get a bit annoyed. All of a sudden it turned around. It was like one move after another and I’m back to being sucked in waiting for the next action.

One of the girls at work said it was terrible. The guy who watches Disney shows on a regular basis said to her “If you think that movie was bad it must be really bad” and said he will not be watching it.

I didn’t ignore the warnings. I rented it. I saw it. It was worse than i ever imagined. then I forgot to return it. Doh.
